The Milk Room raised their certification level from silver to platinum. By evaluating their processes, the team was able to go from using a printout for each formula or breast milk order to using MiChart to create a task on their electronic “work list.” The department also replaced a binder for every new employee with the use of Canvas and a paperless online training program. Planet Blue Ambassador training is now included in the online training program. The department also reduces waste by reupholstering chairs or selecting a gently used item from Property Disposition when possible instead of buying new. Plastic bottles that contain sterile water are used for preparation and delivery of formula. Once the bottles of sterile water are emptied from preparation use, they are labeled and used for delivery of formulas/tube feedings. These are a one-time use bottle and have replaced the use of Nalgene bottles for formulas/tube feedings. These bottles have also replaced the use of disposable gallon/half jugs plastic bottles. {Originally certified platinum: March 20, 2019}
