The UMMA shop has reached the highest level of Platinum certification. The group installed a power strip and plugged in peripheral equipment so that it can be shut down easily when not in use. The team has set up a system to recycle items such as snack wrappers, writing utensils, and packing peanuts. The shop receives a lot of packing materials from incoming merchandise shipments i.e. bubble wrap, packing paper and boxes and reuse it for packing and shipping of purchases. Although they don’t have a kitchen, they take compostables to the bin in the cafe. The department incorporates sustainability into on-boarding new staff and has a green team. Over 50% of staff are certified Planet Blue Ambassadors.
