Antiphosholipid Syndrome Research Laboratories
Date Certified: February 1, 2023
Description
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an unpredictable, chronic autoimmune disease that can cause dangerous clots to form in the body’s blood vessels. The University of Michigan’s APS Research Laboratories are working to advance the understanding of the disease process and identify new, sophisticated approaches to the treatment of APS that are both personalized and proactive. The Labs have shown a strong commitment to sustainability through aggressive recycling efforts, chemical substitution such as replacing ethidium bromide with SYBR Safe, a 100% participation in the Planet Blue Ambassador program, and operating ULT freezers at -70 when possible.
