Hematopathology and Histocompatibility Lab
Date Certified: August 28, 2024
Description
The Hematopathology and Histocompatibility labs came together over shared instrumentation and have strengthened their bond through a shared goal of sustainability, they have been working to reduce their waste and energy usage in any way they can, including extensive freezer maintenance, recycling programs, and outlet timers. Hematopathology supports the diagnosis of leukemia/lymphoma by flow cytometry and performs examination and differentiation of bone marrow cells for the diagnosis of malignant and nonmalignant diseases affecting the hematopoietic system. Histocompatibility supports the solid organ and bone marrow transplant programs by aiding in identifying compatibility between recipients and potential donors and guiding treatment decisions, as well as performing HLA typing for disease associations. {Originally certified platinum: February 6, 2012}
