Office of Campus Sustainability
Date Certified: September 21, 2018
Description
The Office of Campus Sustainability achieved platinum certification. When the team moved into their office in 2018, they installed used furniture in half of the space and obtained used white boards and other items at Property Disposition. The copy room, restrooms, and staff kitchen have motion detectors, and staff typically shut off the lights proactively to save even more enegy. A water refill station was installed as part of the remodel, replacing a plastic jug water system. In the kitchen, there is composting, reusable dishes only, bulk fair trade organic coffee (which is prepared into an energy-saving thermal carafe), organic tea and bulk cream. All events and the staff kitchen are zero waste. The team orders sustainable office supplies including 100%-recycled content paper and recycled content refillable pens. Office supplies that are no longer required are donated to Office Supply Reuse Days. The copier defaults to double-sided and black and white, with the majority of staff set up for secure print. A number of staff actively bike and walk throughout campus. 100% of the staff are certified Planet Blue Ambassadors.
