Description
Originally certified platinum in 2015, The Office of the President has been re-certified platinum. By clearing out the main fridge, the office was able to decommission a mini fridge that had been used for overflow. The office uses all compostable plates, cups, and utensils and plans to use reusable dishes after they move to Ruthven in 2021. The entire floor shares compostable kitchen supplies, with each department responsible for a different item (e.g. cups or plates and bowls). Staff are encouraged to use their own mugs, water bottles, etc. In the President’s kitchen, reusable dishes and utensils are used daily as well as for hosted meetings. For events, linens are brought in rather than purchasing single-use plastic table coverings. To save on transportation, temporary office space is provided for executive officers from elsewhere when they have meetings on site. Prior to holiday breaks, the department sends a reminder to turn off and unplug everything possible. Over 50% of the staff are certified as Planet Blue Ambassadors.
