Located downtown among the Ann Arbor business community, TechArb is the University of Michigan’s student innovation hub, providing out-of-the-classroom programming that empowers students to bring their ideas to life through a wide range of entrepreneurial experiences. TechArb was able to achieve Platinum level certification in July 2019. A recent kitchen buildout was outfitted with an energy saving dishwasher and refrigerator, which has allowed the community to remove single-use items and replace them with reusable dishware. Along with these changes, the kitchen also includes composting and bottle cap recycling. The staff onboarding includes the Planet Blue Ambassador certification training. Any groups or individuals that reserve the space for events must review and comply with a use policy that articulates the importance of sustainability to the community, and how to implement sustainable practices as they use the TechArb space.
