Cardiac Biomarkers Laboratory
Date Certified: June 15, 2023
Description
The Cardiac Biomarkers Laboratory focuses on using soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) as a biomarker of inflammation, to predict a patient’s risk for a disease, potential outcome from a treatment or intervention, or to help guide a patient’s treatment plan. We identify targets for translational medicine in atherosclerosis, cardio-oncology, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and other vascular conditions. The lab has a robust recycling program and actively reduces energy use by turning off unused equipment and by participating in the 2023 Freezer Challenge.
